Security Enabled Pervasive Biometric Sensors

Security Enabled Pervasive Biometric Sensors

This research is funded through the SFI RFP 2011 will establish a number of novel and completely autonomous wireless biometric sensors which are security enabled. The sensors are state of the art and have been developed within the Optical Fibre Sensors Research Centre and covered by in-house patents. These sensors will be integrated with wireless transmission modules which will incorporate their own security software. The sensors will therefore be able to transmit sensitive data securely and have increased protection against damaging malware attack.

Parameters measured include Haemoglobin, Oxygenation level and pulse rate and will be tested on first responders in a simulated safety critical environment.
